In the October Market Update, Frontier’s Principal Consultant Kuek Chyuan (KC) Low comments on the state of the markets, and notes while we have a new Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia, the RBA’s policy remains the same. As a result of ongoing concern about inflation, the market is now pricing in a ‘higher for longer’ scenario for interest rates.
He also touches on the housing market, noting that according to data, Australia’s house prices have continued to go up. Nationally, house prices are up about 8 per cent since the market bottomed at the beginning of 2023, which means prices have recovered quickly despite the interest rate rises.
